Background information:Lipoxygenases are a family of enzymes which dioxygenate unsaturated fatty acids, thus initiating lipoperoxidation of membranes and synthesis of signaling molecules, as well as inducing structural and metabolic changes in the cell. The Lox enzymes in mammals include 12-LO and 15-LO, which are classified with respect to their positional specificity of the deoxygenation of their most common substrate, arachidonic acid. The metabolism of arachidonic acid leads to the generation of biologically active metabolites that have been implicated in cell growth and proliferation, as well as survival and apoptosis. 15-Lipoxygenase (15-LO) acts in physiological membrane remodeling and the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, inflammation, and carcinogenesis. It is highly regulated and expressed in a tissue- and cell-type-specific fashion. IL-4 and IL-13 play important roles in transactivating the 15-LO gene. Overexpression of 15-LO type 1 in prostate cancer contributes to the cancer progression by regulating IGF-1R expression and activation.

Synonyms:15 LOX; 15 LOX 1; 15-LOX; 15LOX 1; ALOX15; Arachidonate 15 lipoxygenase; Arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase; Arachidonate omega 6 lipoxygenase; Arachidonate omega-6 lipoxygenase; LOX15_HUMAN; 15 LIPOXYGENASE RETICULOCYTE ARACHIDONATE.
Also known as:15 Lipoxygenase 1 Polyclonal Antibody
Other name:Anti-15 Lipoxygenase 1 Polyclonal
Advisory:Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody, thus reducing its reactivity, specificity and sensitivity. For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube. Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom.
Properties:For facs or microscopy Alexa 1 conjugate.
Conjugation:Alexa Fluor,ALEXA FLUOR® 594
Conjugated:Alexa conjugate 1
Description:This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
Group:Polyclonals and antibodies
About:Polyclonals can be used for Western blot, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues. The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera.
